Study Rooms and Workspaces

All study rooms follow the Study Room Policy outlined in the Policy Page. Rooms may be reserved for free using a valid Santa Monica Library card and are reserved on a first come, first served basis.

Study Rooms: You may book a study room online up to 1 day in advance. Patrons are allowed to reserve two hours at Main Library and up to two 1-hour sessions per day at Pico Branch. You can book a study room using the link below, at any Information Desk, or by calling (310) 458-8600.

Workspaces: You may book an individual workspace online up to 1 day in advance. Patrons are allowed to reserve a single 4-hour session per day. You can book an individual workspace using the link below, at any Information Desk, the 2nd Floor Information Desk or by calling (310) 458-8600.

A valid library card and email address is required to reserve a space.

Main Library Study Rooms and Workspaces

		2nd Floor Study Rooms There are seven (7) study rooms located on the 2nd floor, designed to accommodate up to 4 persons or 6 persons (in Study Room 8 and 9 only). Electrical outlets and whiteboards are available in each room. Please check in with staff at the 2nd Floor Information Desk prior to beginning your session. Study room use must begin within 10 minutes of reservation start time or the reservation may be forfeited to a walk-in patron with a valid library card. Reservations will end 30 minutes before closing due to limited staffing on Main Library 2^nd floor.

		2nd Floor Workspaces There are eighteen (18) workspace tables located on the 2nd floor, each workspace accommodates one (1) person each. These workspace tables are meant for personal laptop use or simply to reserve a table for studying, reading or work. Electrical outlets are available for your charging convenience. Please check in with staff at the 2nd Floor Information Desk prior to beginning your session or make a reservation online. Workspace use must begin within 10 minutes of reservation start time or the reservation may be forfeited to a walk-in patron with a valid library card. Reservations for Workspaces are available for up to 240 minutes per day. Reservations will end 30 minutes before closing due to limited staffing on Main Library 2^nd floor.
		Workspace Laptops Laptop use is available for up to 4 hours. Laptops may only be borrowed in conjunction with a Workspace or Study Room reservation. Laptop usage is limited to Workspace area or Study Room. Laptops must be returned at the end of the Workspace or Study Room reservation or at the end of the 4-hour reservation, whichever comes first. Laptops cannot be renewed for additional time.

		Youth Services Study Rooms The Youth Services area on the 1st floor has five (5) Study Rooms which hold a maximum of four people; two are for use by a maximum of 2 persons. Youth Study Rooms are available for small groups of children or teens who need space to work together on projects. Electrical outlets and whiteboards are available in each room. Please check in with staff at the Youth Services Information Desk prior to beginning your session. These rooms may only be used by children and teens (up to age 18/grade 12). Adults or caregivers accompanying the child/teen may be in the room with them in order to work with or supervise them. However, the child/teen must be the primary user of the study room, and occupy the room for a majority of the session.

The Pico Branch Library has three (3) study rooms that seat up to 4 people. Electrical outlets and whiteboards are available in each room.
