Please Note: This service is only for schools located in Santa Monica.
Visits FROM a Librarian Get to know your local library and librarians! Schedule a librarian to visit your class for career days, school festivals, summer reading promotion and much more! Visits are scheduled as space is available.
Visits TO the Library These visits can be single visits or recurring monthly visits (scheduled as space is available, minimum 10 students). The first visit consists of a general library orientation, short story presentation (younger classes) and/or introduction to library resources (older classes). Recurring visits are usually scheduled every four weeks (or as needed) and includes story presentations, book talks, and information literacy.
Please notify the librarian at least one week in advance if you have a specific topic or subject you would like covered during your visit.
To schedule a visit from a Santa Monica Public Library Youth Service Librarian: 1) Find the library closest to you. 2) Contact the Youth Services Librarian at the library you have selected. 3) The library’s schedule for visits fills up very quickly, so please contact the Youth Services Librarian at your closest branch (see information below) towards the beginning of the school year in order to ensure a time most convenient for your class.
