On the 2nd floor you will find seven study rooms designed to accommodate up to six persons. Each study room has electrical and data connections for your laptop and a whiteboard for your brainstorming notes. These rooms may be checked out for free on a valid Santa Monica Library card for two hours on a first come, first served basis. Check-out is performed at the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor. Same day reservations can be made on a walk-in basis.
The Children’s Library Teen Lounge Area on the 1st floor has five Youth Study Rooms which hold a maximum of four people. Youth Study Rooms are available for small groups of children or teens who need space to work together on projects. Laptop electrical and data connections as well as a whiteboard are standard in each room. These rooms must be signed out at the Youth Reference Desk on the 1st floor by a child or teen up to age 18 using his or her Library or Internet card. These rooms are available for one hour at a time.
A Quiet Study Room is available on the northeast corner of the 2nd floor for those who are seeking a quiet environment with tables for reading or studying. This room has seating for twenty and offers a glass-enclosed view of the courtyard terrace. Conversation and the use of cell phones or loud equipment is prohibited in this room.
