Current magazines are available for checkout at all locations. The most recent issue may be checked out at Fairview, Montana, Ocean Park, and Pico branches.
Recent newspapers are available for reading in the library.
Historical magazines are located at the Main Library on the second floor. These issues may be read in the Periodicals Area.
The World Languages section at the Main Library has magazines and newspapers in numerous languages.

MasterFILE Complete provides magazine and journal articles from thousands of publications. Updated daily.
Proquest has issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal dating back to the mid-1980's.
Newspapers on Microfilm
A variety of newspapers on microfilm can be viewed in the Periodicals Area on the second floor of the Main Library.
Microfilm Readers
Three microfilm readers are available at the Main Library in the Periodicals Area. They feature high-resolution cameras, long-life LED lights to improve the image, and easy-to-use software. Images can be saved to a USB drive, sent to email, or printed for a fee.
Santa Monica Newspapers
Imagine Santa Monica features an online version of the Santa Monica Evening Outlook (1875-1937) as well as the Santa Monica Newspaper Index.
The Santa Monica Evening Outlook (1875-1998), Our Times (1998-200) and the Santa Monica Mirror (2000-present) are available on microfilm in the Main Library's Periodicals Area.
