    The Library offers 24/7 access to a suite of e-resources for all ages, including eBooks, streaming and downloadable audiobooks, music, movies and more. You can also visit our online databases to get free access to the New York Times digital; read articles from newspapers, magazine and academic journals; stream creative new music via DRAM; and access reference databases including Novelist Plus, which can provide book recommendations.

    Get started: You’ll need your Santa Monica Public Library card number and PIN, and an email address. Download apps from the App Store on your iPhone/iPad or the Google Play Store on your Android device.

    Check out bestselling books and audiobooks, digital magazines, picture books, classics, and other high quality fiction and nonfiction titles selected by our librarians. Check out up to 20 ebooks or audiobooks at a time. Magazines do not count toward your checkout limit. Items are returned automatically, but we encourage you to return finished items early, so they are available for other readers.

    Go to santamonica.overdrive.com on your computer, download the Libby app on your mobile device, or use the OverDrive app on the Kindle Fire (Amazon App Store). The large number of items available in Kindle format can also be transferred to any Kindle device using your Amazon Kindle account, see borrowing Kindle books from your library for instructions.

    Stream or download (app only) a vast collection of content for all ages, in multiple languages. Everything in Hoopla is always available, so you’ll never have to place holds. Borrow up to 6 items per calendar month. Limits reset on the first of the month.

    Go to hoopladigital.com to get started or download the Hoopla app on your mobile device. Search “getting started” in the FAQs to see videos on how to use Hoopla app on Android, iOS or the web. Pro tip for parents: You can select “Kids Mode” in the settings to only show kid-appropriate content in your browse and search results.
