Vampire Fiction
	Fledgling by Octavia Butler (2005) After a brutal attack on her community, a young girl with amnesia wanders the land, searching for who she is and who wants to destroy her. She possesses inhuman abilities, and a thirst for blood, yet is unaware that she is a fifty-three-year-old vampire.
	Renfield: Slave of Dracula by Barbara Hambly (2006) This fresh take on Bram Stoker's Dracula focuses on the obsessive devotion of Renfield to his vampire master. When he embarks on a personal mission to hunt down Van Helsing, the stage is set for the ultimate confrontation between the living and the undead.
	Salem’s Lot by Stephen King (1975) A mysterious stranger appears in the small Maine town Jerusalem’s Lot, called Salem’s Lot by the natives, turning it into what appears to be a ghost town. The streets are only empty during daylight hours, however, as the villagers have all turned into vampires.
	*Fangland: A Novel* by John Marks (2007) Traveling to Romania on behalf of her popular television news magazine, Evangeline Harker investigates the notorious crime boss Ion Torgu, only to disappear and awaken several months later in a Transylvanian monastery with no memory of what happened to her.
	*I Am Legend* by Richard Matheson (1954) A lone human survivor in a world that is overrun by vampires, Robert Neville leads a desperate life in which he must barricade himself in his home every night and hunt down the starving undead by day.
	*Dracula* by Bram Stoker (1897) This classic novel, told in a series of letters, begins when a young Englishman travels to Transylvania to do business with a client, Count Dracula. When the Count travels to London, unexplained disasters begin to occur in the streets before the mystery and the evil doer are finally put to rest.
	*13 Bullets: A Vampire Tale* by David Wellington (2007) This minimally plotted vampire tale is full of action, and features State Trooper Laura Caxton investigating a homicide, presumably committed by a vampire, despite the destruction of all vampires twenty years earlier.
	Sookie Stackhouse Novels by Charlaine Harris Series starts with *Dead Until Dark* (2001) The basis for the HBO series True Blood Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse can read minds, and she has a thing for vampires. Her romance with tall, dark, and handsome vampire Bill complicates her life in new and usual ways.
	Joe Pitt Casebook Novels by Charlie Huston Series starts with *Already Dead* (2005) In Already Dead, vampire private detective Joe Pitt takes on the Coalition, one of the most powerful Vampyre Clans in Manhattan, as he launches an investigation into the disappearance of the daughter of a prominent New York family.
	Twilight Novels by Stephenie Meyer Series starts with *Twilight* (2005) When Bella moves from her home in Phoenix to live with her father in Washington state, she meets the handsome and mysterious Edward. As her attraction to Edward develops, she comes to realize he may not be human.
	Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice Series starts with *Interview with the Vampire* (1976) Interview with the Vampire begins this seminal vampire series, which features vampire Louis’ confession of his 200-year undead existence to an anonymous reporter.
