Entertainment Law Resources for Film, TV and Multimedia Producers  The site is provided by Mark Litwak, a veteran entertainment attorney. Includes information on multimedia law, intellectual property, copyright, and trademark. Litwak gives advice on negotiating electronic publishing agreements, movie merchandising, financing, and even how to get into show biz. He also provides links to film festival calendars and other resources of interest to those in the entertainment industry.

Hollywood Creative Directory  Industry guides cover many areas of film and television, from agents and managers to producers and distributors and more. Materials may be purchased in printed form or subscribed to online. Directory information available only via subscription. Use the "Links" section free for an excellent list of industry links to unions, news, law, events, etc.

Hollywood Reporter  All the news of the industry plus over 100 Special Issues craft and commerce in the entertainment industry (e.g. market issues, festivals, production reports, new media). "Premium" subscription service gives access to full text of stories and reports. Summaries may be viewed free.

International Entertainment, Multimedia & Intellectual Property Law & Business Network  "Designed as a central reference point for helpful information to entertainment, multimedia, intellectual property and online professionals along with international links to professional, legal and business services." Site is sponsored by Harris Tulchin & Associates, attorneys, for clients in film, television, music, multimedia and online industries. Articles of interest to the industry, good links to other industry–related Web sites, and a "Contract of the Month" feature that gives the form for an industry–related contract such as Draft Screenplay Option And Rewrite Agreement.

LA 411  Directory listings similar to those of printed source listed above. Web site includes a "Play" site with resources for Food & Drink, Entertainment, Health, etc.

Who Represents?.com  This is a guide to and for representatives. Enter the name of the artist in the "Who Represents?" search to find the artist's agent, manager, publicist. Enter the name of the agent/agency in the "Who Is Represented By" search to find out which artists are represented by which agent, agency, manager, publicist, attorney. Paid subscription required.

The Workbook  Online version of the multi–volume directory of the graphic arts industry. Most information free but a few services, such as mailing lists, are for sale.

    A resource for actors and other industry professionals, the guide lists acting schools, agents, music lessons, attorneys, advertising agencies, casting directors, clipping services, theatrical libraries, and even airline, bank, spa, and pet care referrals. Everything for people in the entertainment industry.
Marketing Guides

Writer's Digest, Inc. publishes a variety of guides that give helpful advice on marketing products and also serve as directories for the industry. Some examples are:

  • Artists Market, Photographers Market, Songwriters Market, and Artist's & Graphic Designer's Market
    These manuals include information and contacts for the major markets in each field, e.g. publishers, record companies, or advertising and design firms, in addition to articles on the business itself. These handbooks are extremely popular both for the information and for the practical advice.

    A large periodicals database featuring the full text and citations for newspaper and magazine articles; includes many entertainment publications.
     
  • Business & Company Resource Center
    Search for news and articles on the entertainment industry and companies. An extensive business, company and industry database with news, articles, financial documents, rankings, company histories, industry reports, and more. Searchable by company, industry, or article keyword.
     
  • ProQuest National Newspapers
    Look for newspaper articles about the advertising industry, which provides full text to the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, Washington Post and other leading newspapers from roughly 1985-present.
     
  • Associations Unlimited
    Search for entertainment associations and organizations by area, association acronym, keyword, subject, etc.
