    The Santa Monica Public Library has excellent volunteer opportunities for TEENS to:
    • Interact with other teens 
    • Help librarians with youth programs 
    • Help with various library tasks  
    • Obtain community service credit 
    • Plan teen programs 
    • Gain leadership experience

    To qualify for the Teen Volunteer Program at the Main Library, you must:

    • Be a teen in grades 8 - 12
    • Attend school or live in Santa Monica
    • Fill out a Teen Volunteer Application
    • Attend a Volunteer Orientation

    Please note: Volunteer spots are limited. The Main Library holds 3 volunteer sessions a year--Fall, Spring and Summer. If the Teen Volunteer Program is FULL, please visit the Youth Reference Desk and fill out a Teen Volunteer Interest Form. The Volunteer Coordinator will keep your name on a wait list for the rest of the school year and will contact you if a spot opens.

    Teen Advisory Council

    What We Do:  

    • Promote library use and community involvement by teens.
    • Serve as the voice of teens throughout the library community.
    • Plan, publicize, and sponsor programs in the library of interest to teens.
    • Represent teens during community library programs.
    • Give input and suggestions to the library concerning teen related activities, selection of books and other materials for the Young Adult section, and input on design and content of the teen webpage.

    Our Location and Meeting Information:
    Every other Monday, 4:00 p.m. at the Main Library, 601 Santa Monica Blvd. For details, call the Teen Librarian at (310) 458-8621.

    Membership:
    Membership is open to high school students who live and/or attend school in Santa Monica. Spots are limited and recruitment begins at the beginning of every school year. Teen Council members are required to commit to projects throughout the year and must attend meetings regularly.
