September is Library Card Sign-up Month, and Santa Monica Public Library (SMPL) wants to make sure you are among the majority of Americans that carry the smartest card of all - a public library card.  Join us in celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month by visiting a SMPL location and signing up today. 

Whether you're a job seeker, a student heading back to school, or simply looking for some free entertainment, Santa Monica Public Library is here to help.  Your SMPL card does more than just check out books.  With your card you can also:

• Check out study rooms at the Main Library
• Use the internet stations at any library location
• Borrow up to 50 items, including books, DVDs, music CDs, audiobooks, and back issues of magazines
• Borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks and stream music, movies and eAudiobooks.
• Access magazine, newspaper, and reference databases from your home computer
