Film scholar Elaina Archer will discuss the film and its classic leading man after the screening.

		The Lady in the Lake Live: Authors Reading Raymond Chandler Friday, March 16, 2012 at 7:00 pm Santa Monica Bay Woman's Club, 1210 Fourth Street Judith Freeman, Janet Fitch and Denise Hamilton lead a star-studded list of authors in a staged, costumed reading of The Lady in the Lake. Audience costumes encouraged. A line-up of participating authors will be announced one week prior to event.

		Staged Reading of "The Pencil" Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 3:00 pm Main Library, MLK Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard * Join us for a staged reading of a play, based on Raymond Chandler's last Philip Marlowe short story "The Pencil," adapted by Ed Horowitz and produced by the Ruskin Group Theatre. An audience talkback will follow the onstage performance.
		Raymond Chandler Movie Screenings: The Long Goodbye - followed by a Q&A with actor Elliott Gould Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm Main Library, MLK Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Boulevard * In this controversial adaptation of Raymond Chandler's novel, director Robert Altman updated the plot and setting to the 1970s and cast unlikely actor Elliott Gould as Philip Marlowe.
