    Better Business Bureau 
    File a complaint online against a company or charity that has treated you unfairly. The local BBB office will contact the organization to help resolve the issue.

    Consumer Complaints and Protection 
    Provides contact information for corporations, consumer organizations, trade associations, and government agencies (at all levels). Also lists other federal agencies  and state agencies where you can document a complaint against a company, organized by topic, and find a sample complaint letter.

    FAA: Aviation Consumer Protection 
    Information about filing complaints regarding airline service with the Federal Aviation Administration. Consumers can call, write or e-mail their complaint.

    FCC: Filing a Complaint 
    File complaints with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) about "wireless and wireline telecommunications issues, cable, broadcasting and telecommunications accessibility issues." Complaints can be filed electronically, by e-mail, by postal mail or by fax.

    Consumer Organizations

    California Public Interest Research Group, dedicated to advocating for the public interest. CALPIRG works together nationally with the other state PIRGs on regional and national issues.

    Consumers Union 
    Publisher of Consumer Reports magazine, Consumers Union protects the rights of consumers through public campaigns, advocacy, and product testing.

    Public Citizen 
    Public interest group founded by Ralph Nader that represents consumer interests in Congress, the executive branch and the courts. Concerned with government responsiveness, health care, safety, and environmental protections.

    California Attorney General 
    "Protecting Consumers" section provides useful consumer alerts and advisories, an online complaint form, and general consumer information. Although the Attorney General's office does not handle individual complaints, filed complaints can be used as a basis for state legal action.

    California Department of Consumer Affairs
    Excellent consumer information and links to other state agencies, federal agencies, and other consumer resource sites.

    California License Look Up 
    Look up a company or individual who has a professional license issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, from accountants to vocational nurses.

    Federal Citizen Information Center 
    One-stop source for answers to consumer problems and federal government services. Full-text versions of hundreds of the best federal consumer publications are available through the Consumer Information Catalog. View them free (can be downloaded) or purchase print copies online. 

    Federal Trade Commission 
    Federal agency charged with consumer protection and competition jurisdiction in broad sectors of the economy. Quick finder links include: Do Not Call Registry, Consumer Complaint, Free Credit Reports, Identity Theft, Internet Fraud & Safety, and others. 

    Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs 
    County of Los Angeles residents can download the form to file a complaint against a business from this site.

    Santa Monica Consumer Protection Unit 
    For Santa Monica residents, use this site to resolve issues or file complaints against businesses with City Attorney's office.
